In today's episode...
G’day, you mob! Welcome back to another episode of Pete’s 2c, where I tackle your burning questions about the English language.
Today, we’re diving into a BIG one: “What’s the hardest part of learning English?”
Now, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer here. The difficulty really depends on what your first language is. If your native language has a similar structure to English – say, if you’re Spanish or French – you might find the transition pretty smooth. But if your first language is vastly different, like Japanese or Chinese, the whole sentence structure thing can throw you for a loop.
But it’s not just about the words themselves, it’s about how we say them. Intonation – the rise and fall of your voice – can completely change the meaning of a sentence. Think of how “You’re going out tonight?” can be a question or a statement, depending on how you say it. It’s a subtle thing, but it’s a massive part of sounding natural in English.
So, if you’re struggling with English, don’t despair! It’s a tricky language, but with practice and persistence, you’ll get there. And remember, focus on understanding the structure of English and pay close attention to how native speakers use intonation. It’ll make a world of difference!
