Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre Floods & Comes to Life
Learn Australian English by listening to this episode of The Goss!
These are conversations with my old man Ian Smissen for you to learn more about Australian culture, news, and current affairs.

In today's episode...
G’day, you mob! Pete here, and this week on The Goss, I’m havin’ a yarn with my old man, Ian, and we’re diving headfirst into some bonza topics straight out of Australia!
We’re kicking things off by jawing about the wild weather we’ve been copping lately – from dry as a bone in Victoria to absolute buckets of rain up north. And speaking of rain, get ready to hear all about Lake Eyre filling up! It’s a proper rare event, only happens a few times a century, and it turns this massive salt pan into a thriving inland sea, drawing in hundreds of thousands of pelicans and all sorts of other amazing wildlife. We’ll chew the fat about how Aussie animals have some truly ripper adaptations to survive in our sometimes topsy-turvy environment.
But it’s not just about the weather, cobber! We go a bit deeper, pondering how different animals experience the world through their unique senses – from bats with their crazy echolocation to dogs with noses that could sniff out a needle in a haystack. It’s a fair dinkum mind-bender!
So, if you’re keen to improve your listening skills with a natural, spontaneous Aussie chat and learn a thing or two about our incredible country and its critters, then chuck us a listen!
