101 Australian Films You Must Watch

Films are a great resource to use when studying English, or any language for that matter. Not only are they full of English vocab, phrases, grammar, idioms, and slang, but they’re also usually full of culture and history.

My students often ask me to give them recommendations when it comes to Australian movies, so I’ve tried to compile a list of 50+ Australian films you must watch below. They cover all types of genres, styles, and periods from the 1960s to the present.

In the list below you’ll find each movie’s title and release date, a brief description, and its trailer video on the right. A handful of the older films are also available to watch for FREE on YouTube. Where possible, I’ve linked these free-to-view films via a button titled “WATCH THE FULL MOVIE ON YOUTUBE”.

Enjoy!
